Risk Assessment Form Download
The crucial tool that was created for police forces and professionals alike to risk assess victims of domestic abuse, stalking and honour-based abuse is the DASH 2009 (created by Drs Lorraine Sheridan, Karl Roberts and Laura Richards). The ACPO/NPCC DASH 2009 is the risk assessment which acknowledges risk to children by comprising 27 questions instead of 24.
The Domestic Abuse, Stalking and Honour Based Violence (DASH 2009) Risk Identification, Assessment and Management Model was rolled out across all police forces in the UK from March 2009, having been accredited by ACPO Council, now known as National Police Chief Council (NPCC).
The creation of the DASH is instrumental to keeping victims safe. It is meant to be used as a proactive risk checklist and not as a tick box exercise.
S-DASH was created by Drs Lorraine Sheridan and Karl Roberts.
The College of policing have adapted the DASH and police officers responding to a domestic incident are now using a risk assessment that has an added focus on coercive control. Click here for the Police Dara.
